recipe for avala kadi :
I made this appetizer from fresh gooseberries .
1. boil 3 gooseberries in a little water with a little salt .
2. grind some grated coconut with dry red chillies (fried in lil oil)
3. add very lil tamarind water.
then mash one boiled avala (amla ) and add pepper and grind into fine paste .
4.splutter cumin jeera seeds in ghee and grind along with masala .

5. add the remaining boiled avala after cutting them into fine pieces and discarding the seeds, add some more water and boil
6. season with garlic fried in coconut oil and adjust salt after tasting ...goes well with hot rice , rich in vitamin c and makes a for a pleasant, tangy, healthy tasty meal :)
